2023 SXSW Taiwan Beats Playlist
The Taiwan Beats Showcase is probably my favorite music event at SXSW, and I make a point to catch it every year.
This year I put together a playlist of songs by all of the performing artists for my friends at the Austin chapter of Taiwanese American Professionals.

It was definitely a labor of love; some were artists I already listened to (Elephant Gym, 9m88, etc.), and the others I spent a full day listening to to try to wrap my head around what they’re all about.
I chose two songs from each artist, aiming to grab something deeper in their catalogue and something from their latest work. It wasn’t the easiest thing sequencing a combination of math rock, folk, dreampop, and trap into a coherent flow, but I’m happy with how it came together and I’ve been listening to it a lot the past several weeks.
